DO YOU LIKE PIE?
Sarah has a pie. She's really proud of it. It looks delicious, but even though she bought the ingredients and baked it herself, she doesn't really consider it to be "her" pie.
You see, she learned how to bake pies in a public school, paid for by tax dollars. The wheat, butter and apples that went into the pie were grown by farmers paid partially in government subsidies and were transported and maintained with tax dollars.
So even though Sarah put the final product together, untold millions of people have helped to make the pie possible. That's why she is happy to share it with ANYONE who has less pie, or no pie. All she asks in return is that you try to learn how to bake pies yourself, so that someday you too, may share pie with someone who has less.
Every Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM, Sarah occuPIEs Liberty Plaza in the name of a revolution. Stop by for a slice o' pie and a copy of her maniFEASTo

Science/Critical Thinking Discussion Group: What is Logic?
Greetings Free Skoolers!
We're going to kick off a new series of discussion groups this Thursday, July 26th at 6:00 PM. This week we'll be meeting at Cafe Ambrosia to share and learn more about logic and logical arguments. Our goal is to help each other cultivate critical thinking skills, which are essential for rational discussion of challenging or controversial topics. This is one discussion you won't want to miss!
Hope to see some of your smiling faces this Thursday!
Cheers -

Free math goes live!
For Free Math, the whenisgood was unable to produce complete consensus, but we did at least get most people able to attend on Tuesdays at 5:00 PM.
Hence, that will be our first Free Math meeting, this coming Tuesday, July 17, 5:00 PM. The first meeting will mostly be about figuring out what level everyone is currently at and what they want to work on. It sounds like inferential statistics is a popular choice however.
Location is subject to change, but for now we need a place to meet and for that I think the basement of the Michigan Union is appropriate. No one would be surprised to see a group of people doing math there.
Bring, if possible: Notebooks and writing utensils, calculators.
The more powerful the calculator, the better: Graphic > Scientific > Basic > Nothing.
